Single Image Deraining: From Model-Based to Data-Driven and Beyond

The goal of single-image deraining is to restore the rain-free background scenes an image degraded by rain streaks and accumulation. early methods employ a cost function, where various priors are developed represent properties layers. Since 2017, step into deep-learning era, exploit types networks, i.e., convolutional neural recurrent generative adversarial etc., demonstrating impressive performance. Given current rapid development, in this paper, we provide comprehensive survey over last decade. We summarize appearance models, discuss two categories approaches: model-based data-driven approaches. For former, organize literature based on their basic models priors. latter, ideas related architectures, constraints, loss functions, training datasets. present milestones methods, review broad selection previous works different categories, insights historical development route from methods. also performance comparisons quantitatively qualitatively. Beyond discussing technicality future possible directions.
